All these words and more could be used to describe The Witcher star, Henry Cavill. Another big one: Gamer. In fact, gaming is basically Cavillâs favorite pastime. Because games are wonderful. Oh, and also gaming PC builderâ"the mark of a true PC gamer.
It was Cavillâs love of video games that inspired him to try for the role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflixâs The Witcher adaptation. While the show is based on the books it takes more than a few pages from the games by CD Projekt REDâ"and Cavillâs performance was certainly inspired by video game Geralt.
In any case, Cavill has been a serious gamer for a long timeâ"somehow squeezing in game time between movie and TV shoots and an extensive workout regimen that puts us all to shame. And now heâs built a brand new gaming PC and filmed (and edited down) the process for a post on Instagram.
Watch Cavill build his shiny new PC below. Thankfully, like us mere mortals, he has some issues along the way. Building a PC is never a perfectly smooth experience. There are simply too many small pieces.
This is a good-looking machine. It actually reminds me a little bit of the one I built recently, what with the LED RAMâ"my first time using gaudy lighting in a PCâ"though I chose a more compact case this time around. My last case was fairly gigantic and plain black I wanted to give a smaller, flashier build a try.
My PC isnât quite as beefy as Cavillâs. Inside his machine:
Outside the box:
My setup isnât too far off. I have an RTX 2080 Super rather than the Ti, and my CPU is the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X which was a lot cheaper than the 9 while performing only slightly behind the much more expensive 3900X. Beyond that, 32 GB RAM, 2x1GB SSDs and all the rest. Itâs a sweet setup.
So Cavill and I have basically the same computer (though I didnât opt for liquid cooling, which isnât really necessary with these Ryzen chips, and my keyboard/monitor/headset are all different). Oh and Iâm using the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Gaming Motherboard which has treated me well enough, for less than half what youâll pay for that ASUS ROG mobo.
Now if only I had Cavillâs body fat percentage, perfect jawline and abs, that would be something. Câest la vie.
